Direct Primary Care (DPC) for Pediatric Patients.

Pediatrician is Katherine A. Abbott MD, who has practiced locally for over 26 years.
Maggie is the LPN and lab manager, who also is a certified phlebotomist.

DPC is a model that allows doctor and patient to have more direct contact and communication. For a monthly fee, based usually on age, you see the doctor that you have chosen, and there is flexibility in regards to appointment times and types. No call centers or receptionists are utilized. Once enrolled you have a separate number to use to call and text the doctor directly, even after hours, plus email access, and video visits when appropriate. The fee covers all MD services and onsite testing. Insurance is still necessary for vaccines, xrays, and off site lab work. Unfortunately, it must be private insurance as KY doesn’t allow for patients with Medicaid to participate in a DPC practice. (Something that should be changed in my opinion, as it is an option in 48 other states!) There are no surprise fees, and if you choose to purchase medications on site, you will know the actual cost up front. It is then billed with your next monthly payment. Saves a trip to the pharmacy and any fight with insurance about covering the medication.

Other benefits include longer appointments, relaxed environment, and continuity of care. When needed, weekend and even holiday visits may be offered. We are handicap accessible.
