|GLI News Brief:|
Yesterday, Louisville Metro Government opened a new $21 million in federal CARES funding for small business COVID-19 relief grants. GLI has voiced support for this program which is providing up to $50,000 in funding designed to help small business closures caused by the pandemic and to preserve some of the businesses that make Louisville unique. Industries of focus include retail (including direct services), food service, arts and entertainment, recreation, and childcare.
To be eligible for the grant, businesses must:
-Have 20 or fewer employees as of March 16, 2020.
-Have 50 or fewer employees for non-retail businesses that have remained closed or whose business activity has been severely restricted under the state executive order dated March 25, 2020.
-Have been negatively impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic.
-Be located in Louisville/Jefferson County.
-Be in good standing with the Louisville Metro Revenue Commission.
-Be in “active” standing with the Kentucky Secretary of State
Funds from the grant may be used for payroll, utilities, lease/mortgage assistance, fixed cost support (including debt service (interest only), business insurance, and other fixed costs), and technology to allow online sales (hands-free ordering, delivery, curbside pickup and direct shipping.)
